Video Description
Dr. Cunneen is clear that obesity is a disease. “It's a disease that actually is probably number one or two as far as doing really bad things to people in the United States.” He sees this epidemic as a mutilfactorial problem. Genetics haven’t change, so “it's cultural; it's environmental; it's types of jobs we have; and then it's the lack of education. People really don't know what's healthy. They know what tastes good.” He looks at bariatric surgery as a vehicle for people to see better long-term health outcomes. He talks about the importance of going through pre-surgical counseling and how people that do the work up front find greater success.
