Video Description
Dr. Youdim offers an in-depth conversation about the problems associated with weight loss medications of the past as well as optimism for future as doctors have more medications at their disposal to treat obesity. She points out that “the cornerstone of any treatment plan for obesity is lifestyle modification. That includes diet. That includes exercise and behavioral change. And really that is the core, regardless of whether you use medications for weight loss, you move on to have a weight loss surgery, that core lifestyle change needs to occur.” Dr. Youdim likes to bring the topic of bariatric surgery up early in the game so that her patients are aware that it is an option should it be necessary.
