Patient Talk Site Premieres

Studio Executive Who Helped Guide The Success Of Emmy-Winning Shows “Frasier” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” Introduces First Video-Centric Health Care Site by Patients for Patients:  PatientTalk.com

Site premieres today with weight loss and breast cancer series

Los Angeles, CA – January 25, 2016 — From the veteran television studio executive who helped develop and oversaw production of Emmy-winning series like “Frasier” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and fan favorites like “MacGyver” and “Stargate: SG1” comes the first video-centric health care information site by patients for patients: PatientTalk.com (https://patienttalk.com ).

What makes PatientTalk.com different is its exclusive video content for people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening and chronic conditions like obesity, breast cancer and back pain. The patient-centered health care site features real patients talking on camera about the practical, physical and emotional issues they faced during and after treatment. PatientTalk.com also provides important information from medical experts in their area of specialty, and allows doctors to explain things in a way they wish they could if they had more time with their patients. PatientTalk.com offers healthy communication and positive support from its patient communities.

The online service premieres its first two series in January that focus on patient experience with Obesity and extreme weight loss, and Breast Cancer. Production is underway on its next three series: Back Pain for March; Joint Replacements for April; and Coronary Heart Disease for May. CEO John P. Symes expects to produce over 60 diagnosis series in the next five years. All content is created in house and distributed exclusively on PatientTalk.com.

The inspiration for PatientTalk.com comes from Symes’ experience with his wife of 30 years, Meg, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.

“During this period of anxiety and heightened emotion we sought help through traditional health websites but found they all had essentially the same clinical information,” said Symes, CEO of PatientTalk.com. “I saw my wife reach out to her friends and family for advice about their own experiences with breast cancer and how much that helped her through her journey.”

Through that experience Symes began to develop the concept for PatientTalk.com as a new way to provide practical information for patients. Symes is former president of MGM Worldwide Television and Executive Vice President of Paramount Network Television where he oversaw the production of over 1,500 hours of television programming.

Board Members, Investors and Medical Advisors

The PatientTalk.com advisory board and early investors include entertainment industry veterans, venture capitalists  and medical professionals. Board members include John Reagan entertainment industry attorney, and James V. Mitchell founding partner of Meier Mitchell & Co.  Medical advisors include Dr. Jeannie Shen, Dr. Leif Rogers and Dr. Ruth Williamson for Breast Cancer; and Dr. Scott Cunneen, Dr. Mona Misra, Dr. Adrienne Youdim and Dr. Karen Schwartz for Obesity.
